Juyongguan Great Wall

Juyongguan Pass is located only 50 kilometers from Beijing, in a valley called "Guangou". It is considered to be one of the Three Great Passes of China along with Jiayuguan Pass and Shanhai Pass. In the middle of the pass rests the remains of an old fortress called "Cloud Platform". It once sported three white towers, which gave it its old name of "Crossing Street Tower", but they were destroyed during the fall of the Yuan Dynasty. It is still adorned with beautiful carvings on its walls. Its position connecting the heart of inner China to the northern borders and its importance to the defense of Beijing has made it a highly coveted military asset over the centuries. The Pass is also known by the name "Juyong Green Layers" due to the lush and verdant flowers and trees that cover the area and give the impression of green waves rolling down the valley walls.
